Why home contents insurance?
A burst pipe, a fire or a burglary – and suddenly furniture, clothes and electrical appliances are damaged or gone. Home contents insurance pays what you need to buy everything new again. So you are not left with nothing after a loss.

The big risks covered
Fire, burst pipes, storms and hail, burglary, robbery and vandalism after a break-in.
Replacement value instead of current value
What is replaced is what an equivalent new item costs today – not just the remaining value of your old sofa.
Tailored to your home
The sum insured is based on your living space. Many tariffs then waive checking for underinsurance.
Good to know
- A flat rate of 650 to 750 € per square metre of living space is often used – many insurers then waive the underinsurance objection.
- Flooding and heavy rain (natural hazards) are usually only covered with an add-on.
- Bought expensive furniture or electronics? Then it is worth checking the sum insured.
Our partner's licensed experts will discuss with you personally exactly which cover suits you.
Questions about home contents insurance
Is my bicycle covered by home contents insurance?
In the locked flat or in the cellar, usually yes. If the bike is stolen while you are out, the insurer often only pays with the bicycle theft add-on – you can select it in the form.
Do I need home contents insurance as a tenant?
Yes, if losing your belongings would hit you hard financially: the landlord's buildings insurance only pays for the building, not for your furniture and belongings.
What applies when I move house?
Your home contents insurance moves with you: during the move you’re usually covered in both homes for a transitional period. Report your new address and floor space in good time so that the sum insured still fits.
Do I have to upload my policy?
No, that's optional. With your policy, though, our partner's experts can compare your current cover more precisely and make you a suitable offer faster.
What does reviewing my contracts cost?
Nothing – 100 % free and with no hidden commitment. The check is non-binding. We are paid by the provider or the licensed experts when a new contract is concluded. When you switch electricity or gas, we pass part of this on to you as a bonus; for insurance there is no bonus and no cashback (§ 48b VAG). If you grant the voluntary support mandate, the licensed insurance experts also receive an ongoing commission from the insurers for looking after your contracts (portfolio commission) – this costs you nothing either.
