What private cyber insurance covers
Shopping online, doing your banking, sharing photos – the internet is part of everyday life. With it, the risks grow too: fraud when shopping online, misuse of your identity or bullying on social networks. Cyber insurance helps with specialists and, depending on the tariff, covers financial losses. Because the market is still young, tariffs differ widely.

- Online shoppers
- Families with children

Fraud & identity misuse
Depending on the tariff, the insurance covers losses caused by fake shops or by criminals who shop or sign contracts in your name.
Help with cyberbullying
Specialists help get hurtful content deleted – often with support from lawyers or psychological counselling.
Data recovery
After a virus attack or data loss, specialists work to rescue your photos and files – up to an agreed amount.
Good to know
- Check your other policies first: personal liability, home contents and legal expenses insurance often already include individual cyber modules.
- Many tariffs require security precautions, for example an up-to-date virus scanner.
- In case of phishing, call your bank first: sometimes a transfer can still be stopped.
Our partner's licensed experts will discuss with you personally exactly which cover suits you.
Questions about cyber insurance
What is not covered?
Typical exclusions are, for example, copyright infringements such as illegal downloads. In addition, many tariffs only pay if you have complied with the agreed security precautions. The experts show you the exact terms.
Do I need cyber insurance if I already have other policies?
Perhaps not in full: some personal liability, home contents or legal expenses tariffs already include cover for individual online risks. The experts check where you’re already protected – and where a gap remains.
What should I do in case of fraud?
Act quickly: inform your bank and have your account or card blocked, change your passwords, secure evidence such as screenshots and report it to the police. Many cyber tariffs offer immediate help by phone for this.
Do I have to upload my policy?
No, that's optional. With your policy, though, our partner's experts can compare your current cover more precisely and make you a suitable offer faster.
What does reviewing my contracts cost?
Nothing – 100 % free and with no hidden commitment. The check is non-binding. We are paid by the provider or the licensed experts when a new contract is concluded. When you switch electricity or gas, we pass part of this on to you as a bonus; for insurance there is no bonus and no cashback (§ 48b VAG). If you grant the voluntary support mandate, the licensed insurance experts also receive an ongoing commission from the insurers for looking after your contracts (portfolio commission) – this costs you nothing either.
